Judy Dell Johnson

With grieving hearts and tear-stained faces, we write to announce that Judy Dell Wells Johnson, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, has returned to the arms of her savior. Judy was born, January 22, 1947, to Raymond Wells and Ella Mae Terry Wells. She passed away on September 18, 2025, having reached the peaceful conclusion of a life in servitude of the Lord. Judy is survived by her son, Ryan (Sharon); daughter-in-law, Cindy; grandchildren, Clay, Abby (Jackson), and Ben; sisters, Marlene and Charlotte (Bob); beloved dog, Lily Pearl; and a host of loving family and friends. Judy is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Frankie; son, Eric; and sister, Karen. Judy worked in the Pike County school system for many years, teaching business, computers, typing, and shorthand at both Virgie High School and Shelby Valley High School. She also served as cheer coach. During her time as a teacher, Judy touched the lives of countless students who speak fondly of her and her classes to this day. Judy also worked as a legal secretary at Baird & Baird Law offices, before retiring to take care of her grandchildren. Judy was a dedicated member of the Long Fork Free Will Baptist Church, where she attended meetings throughout her life, until her health prevented her in her latter years. Judy was a testament to God’s love and constantly showed that love and generosity to anyone who needed her. Those who spoke to her could attest to both her wisdom and her wit. There was never a dull moment when Judy was around, whether she was speaking candidly to her dog Lily Pearl or recounting hilarious stories from Eric and Ryan’s childhoods. She was multitalented and kept a variety of hobbies throughout the years, ranging from cooking and sewing to reading and flower arranging. She was a light to the lives of all who knew her, and although she will be missed, we look forward to that glorious morning when we meet her again on God’s golden shores, where we will rejoice together for all eternity. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00PM at the Long Fork Free Will Baptist Church with Greg White and Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ben Johnson Cemetery at Left Fork of Long Fork. Visitation will begin on Saturday at the Church after 1:00PM with services beginning at 7:00PM.
